Why give

Your support helps more people find us before harm is done.

You might assume nothing can stop extremist violence. Attacks and shootings come almost every day. But the people who commit them are few, and they rarely act without warning.

In nearly 8 of 10 cases of terrorism and targeted violence, someone close had already noticed the person moving toward violence. Usually, they didn't know where to turn.

When our coaches reach someone first, the results are clear. In external evaluations of our work in Germany, those we coached became 70% less likely to commit violence. But we can only reach them if the people around them know we exist.

What your support makes possible

Violence Prevention Network has already worked with more than 9,280 people at risk of extremist violence around the world. Your support helps us bring that work to more of the United States.

Keep the helpline open for families, friends, and professionals

Provide coaching for people at risk of violent extremism

Train people to recognize warning signs and know what to do next

Build trusted pathways away from extremism and violence

Reaching someone early is far cheaper than responding to an attack, and far more humane. The FBI estimated the damage from the Boston Marathon bombing at $333 million, for a single attack. Coaching one person away from violence costs about $12,000.

Sponsor a training cohort

Fund a frontline professional's training

Companies, foundations, and supporters can sponsor training for frontline professionals who couldn't otherwise afford it. A sponsorship gives educators, counselors, social workers, faith leaders, and reentry professionals access to skills they carry back into their communities. One trained professional goes on to support many people.

A sponsorship can fund:

  • one or more training scholarships for local professionals
  • a full cohort across different sectors
  • training materials, facilitation, and follow-up coaching

We'll keep you posted on what your support made possible, and we'll never let sponsor recognition come at the cost of the trust and safety of the people we serve.

Our work depends on strong local partnerships. When someone is stepping away from extremism, support often reaches beyond coaching: housing, employment, education, legal help, mental health care, family support, and community connection. If you are a civil society organization, agency, school, faith community, or service provider, we'd welcome you.
